Julian Thomas's weekend got off to a difficult start having damaged the front suspension and bonnet of his E-Type during testing. The hard work of the team, a spare bonnet and parts kindly loaned by Georg Nolte and Stefan Sautter meant that he could qualify and start the race. Julian spent 12 laps challenging for the lead, behind Marcus von Oeynhausen, constantly in hot air. Unfortunately the car overheated, causing a misfire and he was forced to retire.
